"Concert on the Green" Prints by John Bell, Jr.
Commissioned by the Chancellor's Coalition for the Visual Arts, "Concert on the Green," by noted Fort Smith painter John Bell, Jr., shows students enjoying an evening concert at UAFS’s distinctive Reynolds Bell Tower. The original oil painting now hangs in the Sally Boreham Gallery on the second floor of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center. The Boreham Gallery also houses four more John Bell, Jr. originals gifted to the University by the gallery’s namesake, Sally McSpadden Boreham.
Bell, known for his richly detailed and historically accurate scenes of turn-of-the-century Arkansas, was born and raised in Fort Smith and attended Fort Smith Junior College from 1959 to 1962.
The Chancellor’s Coalition for the Visual Arts, which collects and exhibits works of art for the benefit of UAFS students and the people of the region, depends upon the financial help of individuals, organizations, and businesses interested in supporting the visual arts.
One simple way to support the Coalition is to purchase a canvas or fine-art paper print of “Concert on the Green.” A portion of proceeds from these prints—wonderful gifts, incidentally, for graduates and others—goes to the Coalition.
"Concert on the Green" is available as a 5" x 7" fine-art print ($15), an 8" x 10" stretched canvas ($65), a 16" x 20" stretched canvas ($135), or a 24" x 30" stretched canvas ($250).
